Such a Strong Woman Today's afternoon, I have read a short story in Reader's Digest, by the name of I Was Blind, Yet I saw. It is a true story, happening in England. When Judy Taylor, the main character in the story, was nine years old, the darkness began closing around her. And she was completely blind during the next decades. How could we go on living without light in the life? I was quite astonished that she led a normal life, even though many troubles surrounded her. From the bullying of her classmates to being deserted by the first lover, she faced uncountable problems and attacks. But she never gave up. In order to be a good teacher, she studied very hard at the school for the blind. Life was always extremely rough to her. After her graduation, no school wanted to accept her. Accidentally, she seized a chance to try out something. With great efforts, she became a teacher at last. From then on, the life changed for the better. She married at the age of thirty six and had two sons later. She took on a lot of household chores that we ordinary people could not believe. But it was true. When over fifty, she could see the world again after operations. She said,”If the darkness had not existed, I would never have known the joy of seeing.” Comparatively, we are very lucky, and troubles around us are too small. We can learn much from her. Life is always like this; nothing is perfect. To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield. There is a whole new world ahead of us.
